Relocating windshield snap fasteners
My new LB roadster top windshield snap fasteners do not match the existing fasteners on the windshield frame so I'll have to relocate the old fasteners. It's a '31 Deluxe.
I drilled one new hole but it only goes about 3/16" deep before hitting bottom, probably the glass. Not deep enough for a screw type or a pop rivet type snap. Looks like you need to remove the frame top piece and then pop rivet the fastener in place. Once popped in, there should be enough clearance for the glass. Is this the way it's done? Are there any special techniques to removing the top rail I should know about? Glen

A fellow here in town made a tool too bolt in the snaps on the frame(nut and bolt) ! The long tool held the nut just enough too start the thread...then it just popped of... Some things too think about.. |
