41 Pickup Hood Ornament

I've got a 40/41 pickup I am restoring. It will be put together from 4 different trucks, some 40 and some 41. I could make it either one, but would like to make it a 41 since the frame is a 41. The piece I don't have is the wide hood ornamentation for a 41. The 40s are reproduced. How hard is it to locate the hood ornamentation for a 41? Is this an Ebay item?

They come for sale every now and then here and on ebay. Finding a GOOD one is a different story. Make sure you have the matching upper grille support and under hood latch to match cause they are different from the '40 and not reproduced either. I happened to find a NOS piece as a spare, but it would take DEEP pockets to get it from me, or talk to my kids at the funeral....

Yup I got one spare too for the "just in case" thing, they do come up on ebay but make sure to check the part number, they look a lot like the big truck pieces from the same year but are smaller. Sometimes you will see just the center part with a broken handle, those are being reproduced so that may help.

Thsnks, no big hurry since it can be the last piece put on the truck, but it effects other decisions. Sooo, how deep do the pockets have to be? I'd like to leave more than the pickup to the kids. PM

When I got my 41 it was in parts and the hood trim was in bad shape and the hood opening parts were missing. I decided to convert to the 40 trim and installed a cable hood opener. Some holes had to be filled on the hood. Not sorry I made the change.
