Speedo only goes to 58mph
Any idea how to get the speedo to work past 58mph.

Clean it and lube it. Most speedo's have a brass cap where the cable comes in. Remove the cap at put in some ATF.

I believe that your speedo needs to be recalibrated. The part that the cable goes into and is driven by the cable which is magnetized, which in turn pulls the "speed cup"to move the needle to the correct speed. Over time the magnet becomes demagnetized and doesnt pull the speed cup enough. Take the whole speedo to a speedometer shop, they will take it apart, service and recalibtate it. This isn't something you can properly do your self. I hope this helps.

not trying to be a smart a%&^, but does the accelerator pedal go down far enough to get wide open throttle. it could be getting hung up on the mat or carpet or the rubber grommet in the firewall. just a thought.

LMAO, you're bad, Jim. When I was 16, the father up the street put a block under the gas pedal so his daughter couldn't drive too fast. He didn't know she knew us......

I had a friend in high school that bought a car, and someone had put a 1/2" block of wood under the carpet at the accelerator pedal. took him awhile to figure it out.

You guys are awesome. Yes she flys, the speedo just stops, I will take the advise and run her to the speedo shop. Using the gps works as well.
