model a ford wire ga
I am trying to confirm the wire gauge for a 1930 model a ford
the harness on my veh has been replaced with incorrect wire I assume the charging system would be 10 gauge and 12 gauge and the lights horn ignition would be 12 to 14 gauge would that be correct thanks Gerry |

Re: model a ford wire ga
Not that heavy for the wire.
Bratton's might list the gauge on the wiring picture in their parts catalog. |

Sacramento vintage ford sells 10,12, and 14 gauge wire. The also make the wire most vendors sell. I would call them and ask.

Quote:
"All lamp wiring harnesses used 16-gauge wire" (Except Early 1928 vehicles...Read the RG's); "The wires from the terminal box to the generator cutout and to the battery connection on the starter switch were larger 12-gauge wire". "The wire from the ignition switch to the coil (red wire) was 16-gauge until October 1928 when it was changed 12-gauge. The black wire from the coil to the terminal box was 16-gauge throughout production". Pluck |

Re: model a ford wire ga
If I was faced with the problem I would install a new wiring harness from a good supplier. Use search for recommendations. Been there, done that.

Nothing like being "showered" with "Thank You's".
As Charlie says...Just get a new wiring harness and be done with it...install it and off you go! Pluck |
