Model A Parking Brake build
Hello! I purchased a 1927 Bugatti Type 35 kit car which rolls on a '65 VW Beetle chassis. It has the stock parking brake handle in it just forward of the shift lever, but I've seen them with Model A style (pic attached) hand brake levers mounted on the outside.
The pic attached shows the pawl and catch with it, but no other parts. I'm wondering 1. Does anyone on here have an "exploded view" of the parts needed? and 2. Where's the best place to purchase the rest of what I'll need to make this work? Tan car is mine. Red one shows one with the handle on the outside. Last is the photo of one I found available. Thanks for your time! Happy Holidays. -Mark Last edited by ladon67; 12-24-2018 at 02:00 PM. |

Re: Model A Parking Brake build
The part you are missing is made into the transmission tower. It would be
easier to use the later had brake lever. Bob |

Re: Model A Parking Brake build
perhaps you can get a replacement parking brake shaft housing for the backing plate, then weld the ratchet to it and a bracket to mount on frame (the tube is brattons part # 3820)

Re: Model A Parking Brake build
Mark,
My 29 Chevy has a ‘split’ handle lever as in your 3rd photo, unless you prefer the push button lever as in the Ford. Happy Christmas to all

Thanks for the replies, Gents. Bob, any chance of getting a slightly wider shot of the first pic? :-D
