Lowering RPU Box
This may be a really dumb question and I might be missing some obvious answer but here goes. Is it possible either remove or reduce in height the wood (approx 2"X4") that sits between the box and the frame? I would like to bring the fenders down closer to the rear tires.

And yes, I know that I have to deal with the crossmember and the box floor

Re: Lowering RPU Box
You could change your spring to an 8-leaf spring, but I would leave it alone.

Re: Lowering RPU Box
Replace your rear spring with Model T rear spring. I got a 2"+ drop in fender to wheel center.
I can't take credit for this it comes from Jim Brieley (sp). |

If you bring the fenders down what do you do with the running boards.

Re: Lowering RPU Box
When I mentioned the 2"+ drop, that was just easy to measure the drop. The chassis (bed and all) rides lower. That is what I wanted; I didn't have mess with items mentioned in posts 5&6. Be installed for 3 years and no problems.

Re: Lowering RPU Box
Well, in my defense I did say it was probably a dumb question. I had only crawled around underneath the truck to see if there were any obstacles. Hence, my question. It did not occur to me that I would have an issue with the splash aprons as I never took the time to consider that. Thanks for steering me straight
