Default V8 60 Identity

I have recently acquired a 60 and need to identify its year. How do I do so? Thank you in advance.

Are the sides of the block under the exhaust manifolds tin, or the same iron as the rest of the block?

Is the oil filler pipe in the intake manifold or the block?

The block and sides are all cast,no tin. The oil filler hole is on top of the bellhousing behind the intake manifold off the the left side a little. Thanks for your help, Chuck

The tin or stainless steel sides just means it is an early 37 60 h.p. I think sometime late April was the last assembled,my 37 was May and was a full cast block. Ford knew they had a problem months before the fall 37 introduction sealing up seeping stainless to cast iron welds. The 37 book has some good information on them as the 39 resto book also and describes the even earlier ones worked on in 35-36 with 4 main bearings.
