Exhaust Pipe Clamp (rear)
I recently read a thread which indicated when installing the rear clamp of the exhaust system it should have a piece of rubber between the clamp & frame.
Has there been such a thread recently that indicated this an if so was this originally done or a fix to a problem? Thanks for any information. |

Re: Exhaust Pipe Clamp (rear)
I don't if thats how its supposed to be or not.
I stick a chunk of hard rubber between the clamp and frame. I also wrap a chunk of asbestos between the the pipe and clamp. Then leave it clamped loose enough to let it move around a bit. |

Re: Exhaust Pipe Clamp (rear)
Tom - Yes i saw that in the Service Bulletins but thought it would be a good idea as I'm in
the process of changing the exhaust manifold and of course that will have to be loosened. Thanks for your response. Patrick L. Thank you also for your response. Sure appreciate it. |

Re: Exhaust Pipe Clamp (rear)
I used something like this for my truck available from any of the auto supply stores.
http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...0077&ppt=C0022 It's the only thing on my truck not stock... but I no longer have any vibration or noise.

if your really feeling cheap / creative you can make one out of an old tire tread and an L bracket... dont get me wrong though they do work really well and do isolate all noise
