Default What is this radio out of?

It looks like a ’35-36 but the length of the cables is five and a half feet. From looking at the 35-36 book, the head is definitely out of a ’35, which makes since the waterfall is that of a ’35. But which model would have needed such long cables? Where would the radio box have been located? The 5.5 foot cables would barely be long enough to have located the box under the seat, and not enough room under the seat anyway.

Then there is also the speaker. At least it looks like a speaker when I look through the holes and not a heater. Its huge at almost 12 inches in diameter and it has two bolts that might have held it under the dash to the firewall.

It could be a Philco made for something else. Does the box have mounting ears on it like a Ford radio?

It is the 5 foot cables that are the mystery. Yes, the box does have the standard Ford mounting ears. The head on the left is '36, the head on the right is out of a '35.

Which model would need 5 foot cables? Phaeton, Trunk Back Convertible? And where would the radio box be mounted with such long cables?

The Philco FT9 and FT6 models were used with the FT9 being the closed car version with the speaker in the header above the windshield. The FT6 for open cars had the speaker inside the radio box. I would have no idea why that one has the long teleflex cables but it may have been for a Lincoln or some other application such as a car with a heater mounted on the inside of the fire wall.

The Philco CT11 versions made for Chrysler had a rectangular control head.
