Default OT, sorta, looking for a manual for a Champion spark plug cleaner and tester

As it says in the title, looking for a manual for this animal. The picture is from the web, same as the one I recently acquired. Can't find a model number or other info on it.

TIA, Ken

Using such a tester, you can lurn SO many things about how spark plugs react under different pressures!---AND, throw away OLD questionable plugs, so you're NOT tempted to try them again, sometime!! Same advice with OLD condensors & rotors. That old saying, "DON'T THROW ANYTHING AWAY", IS B.S!
It's a good lurning experience to cut open & un-roll the stuff in a condenser, it's just 2 rolls of foil, separated by a roll of waxed paper! "THEY" say, "CURIOSITY KILLED THE CAT"---But that's OK, they have 7 lives! The Dog is LAFFING, I 'think" he just P**D himself--LOL

I've got a nice example and have recently discovered that you have to have the right grit to get them to work.
This is available on the internet (EBay) and you need two bags for the right quantity plus a replacement rubber thingy.
Good luck

I had a CHEEPIE wall mounted spark plug cleaner, used it for sandblasting some small parts.
Also used it for etching masked off designs on some wind wings. Masked them off with some heavy duty CONTACT PAPER. Learned how to do that in a stained glass class @ adult school.

PM sent to Fullraceflathead

I wonder if I could find something locally that would work for the abrasive media, maybe ground walnut shells? I know it has to be something that won't damage the porcelain, and be small enough that it won't lodge up in between the shell and the porcelain.
I have one of the "rubber thingy"s for 14mm plugs, need to source a couple more, one for 18mm and one for 7/8" plugs.
Also need to source a couple of the test fittings for 18mm and 7/8" plugs.

Any info most appreciated.

That is the Military version of the Champion model 800 manual. It's very good too. I believe it is the only one out there on the internet.

The best way to clean deposits it using REAL Carburetor Cleaner or Brake Clean in a spray can. If you blast them use a fairly low air pressure to just remove the deposits and NOT rough up the Porcelain as roughness will accelerate new carbon deposits. Make sure you dislodge all pieces of abrasive that may get stuck in plugs if you blast them.
Best to use liquid chemicals to clean them.

We used this in our spark plug cleaners when I worked at an Aircraft Maintenance Facility.

Yes use only spark plug abrasive as CarlG suggests. You don't want to damage the porcelain. Your goal is to remove deposits which can short out the plug. Also cleaning the metal electrode with a file reduces the amount of voltage required.
