What a great story and video! I have the utmost admiration for this family.

I remember a similiar machine shop in my hometown, set up with overhead belts and pulleys. Powered by a large hit-and-miss engine. I can still hear it...

And they have a copy of James Wagner's book on Ford trucks in the office.

"Dad leaves all the configuratin' to me now" A man using a welding rod as a drawing tool. Love it, and the dirt floor. The kinda floor that's easy on the feet and you can make a drawing just about anywhere. If you drop a small part it wont bounce or roll away and sweeping the place clean isn't something to worry about.

I love it. They'd get my business if I lived around there. Sadly, it's a reflection of our past, as we all get older it's dying away like we are. I hope the young guy gets to keep it running, and to pass down a tradition where quality and old-fashioned principles are first and foremost. It actually made me happy seeing that clip, but also sad that it's the remnant of an era that future generations will never know... where a deal was settled on a handshake, where you could leave your car unlocked and it wouldn't get stolen, where you bought a part for your car and it actually fitted and worked, where a beautiful woman was not composed of plastic enhancements, where respect and chivalry were important principles. Sigh....
