I saw a dual Cowl Phaeton on E-bay a couple of days ago with bidding somewhere around $23.000...and it wasn't done!

Very nice looking. What's going to kill any deal, unless local, is shipping to the states.

Nice car! I'd love to own it.

But don't write "all original" when it's clearly not. That reduces the credibility of the phrase. But still... very nice car!

Hard to believe that this is 33 year-old original paint, but if you say it is, who am I to argue . . .

It wasn't a "dual cowl" either.

Beautiful car... But to talk semantics.... If your car has been restored, it is not Mint.

It can be restored to a mint like state. But something is only mint once. Kind of like virginity -once you lose it, it is gone.

Just my 2 cents worth....and a strict definition of the word Mint.

700rpm beat me to it. Edsel's was dual cowl. I'm willing to bet somewhere back then there was a company making aftermarket mount on windshields though.

To answer your original question, 30-31 phaetons are rarer. I would suggest in the $22,000 to $30,000 range. Just what I see in hemmings.

Wasn't there some dual cowl bodies built in Germany or somewhere else in Europe?

I wish the trimmer or owner would have taken more care of the height of the back window.

Ruins the roof from the back view.

Yep, that's the first thing I noticed also.

Dual cowl Model-A Ford phaetons? Yes, I've seen a few pictures of custon made ones. The one (actually two people have listed their
standard phaetons as dual cowl) on eBay had only an accessory windshield for the rear seat with no cowl. The cowl on a Model-A is
essentially the gas tank forward of the windshield. A dual cowl phaeton
has a secondary cowl over the back seat floor area with a windshield
attached to it. In order for the back seat riders to inter or exit. The cowl has to be lifted up as it is attached via a hinge to the top of the front seat metal backing. The rear doors are also blocked by the dual cowl when the cowl is in the lowered position. Most dual cowl phaetons were
built by the high end cars (Duseneburg, Packard, Lincoln, Cadillac, etc.) of
the the late 20's and early 30's. There is a FordBarner who has a period
pic of a custom "A" dual cowl phaeton as his avatar. And, I believe a large Ford "A" dealership in California had a '29 phaeton customized with the addition of a back seat cowl/windshield for a large new car show in 1929. Offhand I'm not so sure the Edsel phaeton was a true dual cowl. More
of a "sport" phaeton with a thin metal cover behind the front seat back.
I don't have a pic of it handy so this is just a guess.
