Default Here is an interesting tool that is comming on the market.

A precision router.

You place some tape markings on the piece your are working on and the router can know where it is on the material. You just have to keep sort of close to where the line needs to be and move at the right speed and it makes a precision cut.

A neat concept. So it is sort of like a XY table, but much cheaper.

It would be wonderful in a very soft wood. However, when you get into the hardwoods, the grains likely grab and force off the tracing screens.
Sort of like etch-a-sketch! It isn't that easy to follow a line.
I make templates and use guide bushings with a router for repetitive cuts. I make the A400 and 68C headers using router and templates.
