Mick, I have heard it referred to as a "hole" filler. Get an original X 2.

The original 1939 Deluxe grill (on my original) is in the body color paint, and has a bunch of stainless strips that go on each of the vertical grill members, a cast piece in the center...

When I imported my 39 deluxe coupe 25 years ago from West Virginia it was rough and I did a body off restoration on it ,its almost finished and looks great,it had a repro grill i believe made in Argentina (no china stuff in them days),even though it was straight with no damage I couldn't live with that on such a nice car,i managed to get a busted original with bits missing and made the missing parts ,it is painted body colour with a new set of stainless slats and centre piece and I must say a work of art almost ,I think the 39 grill in particular is so nice it would be original only for me ,
good luck , Jim.

Thanks guys,,,, that's good advice and what I needed . The car is a 39 wagon , I have an original 39 deluxe grill ..... it sounds like I need to stick with it and fix it up!
