Firewall Hole
Does anyone know what the hole in the left side of the firewall is for ?
The car is an early 30 Briggs Town Sedan. The right side hole is factory plugged, which I take means the car originally had an electric windshield wiper installed. |

One is for the gas line. The other is for GAV rod.

I think he's asking about the hole on the drivers side. The gas line and GAV are on the passenger side.

I have a Nov.1929 built - early 1930 Briggs and you have 2 holes that are extra .Both on the drivers side. NO CLUE to what they were used for...

I checked my nov 1929, early 1930 sport coupe made by Briggs and it did not have any hole there

It's a good guess that that R/H hole is not original. I have not seen such a hole -- both of my '30's don't have it. Gar Williams

Either here or on the HAMB I've seen several pictures with the driver's side f/wall hole. Most were stock/original looking cars. Don't know what it was for but hole placement looked uniform, some type of accessory??

I don't recognize the hole either. Ulysses6, try and see on inner side, if the hole was "drilled". From what I know, Ford used "punches" to form holes in firewalls, therefor leaving a perfectly smooth, round hole edge, with not a burr atall.

Looks as if they have been drilled from the engine side in. So the two on the left side should be filled ? Which would leave the three factory holes, on the right side (vacuum line, sediment bulb and carburetor rod) ?

Yes, those two should be filled. Don't forget the hole for the speedometer cable is also supposed to be there along with what you listed in above reply. Best regards, Pete.
