Default 1941 carburetor , where does this part go

I'm new to the flathead Fords, my car was running well when it started to cough a little. Got home a took the top of the carburetor off to look inside for the first time, when a part fell out I can't figure out were it goes. It looks like a small bullet, measures .187 diameter, .406 long with a .154 diameter hole in it.should have been more careful, I've looked at the service manual diagram, but don't see it. HELP

Sounds like the spring loaded "bullet" that gives the choke its detent. If you disconnected the choke linkage that goes from the bottom of the carb to the top, that may pop out. Better find the spring too.

It does sound like the spring loaded piston for the choke linkage. The top has a small boss just above the threaded hole for the screw that holds the choke linkage onto the top. The spring for the piston may still be in the hole.

Sure, why not. That's what the OP has to figure out.

#9594 looks like the accel pump discharge check needle/weight. The carb would need some inside disassembly for that to fall out. The description fits the choke detent bullet. #9594 doesn't have a hole in it.
