Default Shipping Charges

Have shipping charges gone up? I was going to order a floor mat (front and back) and shifter boot for my Sport Coupe and shipping through the mail was going to be $60! Am I just behind the times?

Inflation is very bad today. Just one year back it would have been less.

Yes, where I work we've seen wire/plumbing supplies skyrocket, but it caught me off guard to see the shipping costs. I wish I had bought a few things earlier, but I was dragging my feet......

It is all tied to the cost of oil and lack of workers.

What Company are you ordering from?

Some Parts Companies charge shipping plus crazy high handling fees to package it and take it to the carrier.

Maybe the Box is oversize and costs more to ship?

Berts in Denver does not charge packing and handling fees.

The post office looses millions and millions of dollars so if they are cutting rates it’s just a bigger loss in the future. If the post office was private they would have been out of business many years back.

I was going to order from Snyders. I always do. No reason, just started with them. I was going to order floor mats. Heavy, I know. I checked and was able to order them, and I did, from Mike's Affordable Parts. We'll see how it goes. Shipping should be about $40 cheaper.

I know Bert’s charges only actual shipping cost to them. The big vendors also get preferential rates due to volume

I was going to buy a new top kit and rain gutter set for my Tudor until I saw $95 for shipping. Yeah, that's not happening.

Regards
Bill

That flu can be nasty if you have pre existing conditions.....my experience was barley noticeable.

Usually Snyder’s is very competitive.

I don't think the US vendors will be getting many orders from this part of the world for a while. Ordinary mail is not being sent this way so the only way is a priority package at a minimum of $69.95, U had one sent on Dec 6th and I'm still waiting. Clearly their idea of priority is different from mine.
Even before he current situation, as a rule of thumb, by the time we allow the exchange rate, postage and taxes, I allow double the $US listed price in $A.
Kinda makes your eyes water, doesn't it?

A friend of mine gave me his Gravely with brush mower. Nice tractor, about 550 pounds. I got some quotes to ship from Washington state to North Carolina. It was more than what I could buy the same machine here, from $1,200 to $5,000. So it sits in Washington.

Shipping charges are a challenge. I sell a lot of stuff on a variety of platforms and I have to make sure I charge enough for shipping to cover my costs, which don't include packing and taking to the PO.

I am lucky that I live close to a Greyhound station and have shipped some larger and heavier items that way. I had a woven basket that I had sold. It didn't weigh much, but was large and the cost to ship was $50. No way that was going to happen.
