Replacing running boards on 1930 Fordor
I started the process to remove my running boards this weekend and discovered I was in for more than I bargained for. I understand that I need to remove the body to frame bolts to remove the running boards (yes I have the one piece boards) but I would like to know if after taking these bolts out I can slide the running boards out or do I need to lift the body to get more hardware out?
Any photos or advice would be GREATLY appreciated. Curt

There are 4 splash shield bolts through the frame that also need to be removed, These look like 1/4" carriage bolts except they have a large diameter shallow head. Snyder's part A-040-MB

Does the body need to be lifted off to remove them?

Hi Curt,
see a few pictures of my 1930 Town Sedan and the bolts mentioned above. I think these are not original. Michael

Re: Replacing running boards on 1930 Fordor
Michael, you're right, those don't look like the correct bolts. They should have a large slightly doned head, such as Mitch shows on his.

Re: Replacing running boards on 1930 Fordor
Thanks to everyone for your help. So I guess my next question is how many body bolts are there per side on a fordor? Do I have to take the doors and hood off to be able to life up a side? I will eventually do a frame off restoration but for now I want to get the old girl on the road and I had hoped to replace the only rust damaged parts.....the running boards.
Another question/thought.....The aprons are in great shape. The area under the old mat is rusted. If I were to get some sheet metal to repair this can I buy the mat and edge molding? Thanks again guys! Great forum!
