Default Truck won’t start 1945 Pickup

Hi guys,

My trucks not starting and I’m not receiving power to the trucks ignition and lights. I have a brand new battery and have power to the solenoid and voltage regulator. I’m thinking the Circuit breaker 11A-12550 or the ignition switch body. So I’ve ordered the ignition switch body to replace. But I’m having a problem finding the circuit breaker.

Has anybody come up with a solution to the circuit breaker as i’m having a tough time finding one.

Sounds like it might be the resistor, which is located above the speedometer and gauges.
I had a 47 which I believe are about the same, and that is were my restore and headlight
circuit was located.

P.S. Afer locating the resistor, turn on the ignition switch, if power to one side, and no power
to the other side, it is the resister failure.

Thanks,

I converted to 12 Volts so the resister is out of the loop. Thank you for the ideas.

Get a wiring diagram for your year and trace voltage from the battery forward until you find where the break is. You can find those diagrams on the VanPelt site.

Thank you, I did that yesterday and discovered some connections that were disconnected, and the main power to the circuit breaker was not wired because it didn’t show in the instructions.

Thank you so much

An old Ford converted to 12-volts will need either a ballast resistor for a 1.5 Ohm primary type coil or it will need a 3-Ohm coil. I'm saying can type coil. If it has an old plastic case Ford type coil then it may need a trip to Skip Haney's for a conversion overhaul. Skip does them however a person wants.
