Re: Ford "wide five" Brake Drums
Hi Trevor.
As you know, I'm in Canada and our '36 was definitely built by Ford of Canada. However, it doesn't have front drums with those ribs or long snouts. Perhaps that's because the car was converted to 1939 hydraulic brakes? Also ....... the rear drums are a star shape like the one on the right in your 08-24-2020 photo above ........ not the bolted type as shown on the left. |

Re: Ford "wide five" Brake Drums
For those of you with Hagerty insurance, aren't those wide 5 open drums on the cover shot of their current magazine?

Re: Ford "wide five" Brake Drums
I spotted this rusty 1936 Ford with the open tyre rear brake drums for sale in Michigan a few years back. Seeing as Michigan is close to Canada, it may have come in from Canada? |

Mon Dieu....never mind the politics. That "aging" seen in this picture would be reason enough to pack your bags and haul-butt out'a Michigan. DD |

I thought that that 1936 ford Fordor Sedan that I saw had lots of great Patina? Notice that the front drums are solid while the rears are open? |

"Having been there done that".... Converted my '36 Ford to hydraulic brakes in 1952, I can relate to the front drum issue. The front spindles on a '36 have to be converted to '40-41 with '39 or later backing plates and '37-39 drums if the stock wheels are going to be retained.
