I.D. this flathead
Alright guys I found this on the local craigslist and was wondering if anyone can give it a specific ID. It looks like a B but then again it doesn't. The transmission in another picture has the same rear mounts as a v8 so Im thinking some mid 30s industrial. I may be interested in buying it if I can get some more info.

Re: I.D. this flathead
My guess is that it is a 4 cylinder Ford truck engine out of about 1940. The tractor engine looks similar but does not have a fuel pump (it was gravity feed like the Model A). I am interested in why you would buy it. They are about 120 cubic inches (the Model A/B is about 200) and make a terrible choice to put in a Model A. I am just glad I didn't have to drive the truck it came in.

Re: I.D. this flathead
I agree on all points with Charlie. Might ask on the V9 forum as it is then there relm of vehicles this likely exists. Although not very desirable. Rod

Re: I.D. this flathead
Wasn't planning on putting it into a Model A. If the price was cheap enough it would make a cool little doodlebug tractor or maybe a little sprint car or something of that nature.

Re: I.D. this flathead
It looks like the 9 N tractor engine that was used in some Ford cars and trucks through 1941. I would be valuable to someone that wanted to restore one of those cars or trucks.

Re: I.D. this flathead
From what I have been reading the tractor engines did not have the fuel pump, they were gravity feed like the A. Apparently even the original truck guys didn't want these. It was the engine available after the v8 60 and only had 40 horsepower.

Re: I.D. this flathead
I have a 49 8-N tractor with the front distributor, and it looks a LOT like this motor
