Cool Bill of Sale All The Way Back

The family of the person who I bought the car from found all NJ Bill of Sales to the first sale...here are some of them. Shows original motor number to 1929. I think this adds some value to the car as the car itself is mechanically great but I left the "patina" of old age. All new chrome but an old body....I love it.

The original owner sold the car in 1933, probably as a trade-in for a new car.

Where did you obtain this information from and how would you know it was a trade in on a new car. I read all three documents and our opinions differ !

Ahh but Sgt. Schultz I believe you are correct! If you look at the first two photos the first one has NO assignment number and lists no prior Bill of Sale number. The next photo says assignment No.1 and lists the prior Bill of Sale serial number. There are six I have right up to the lady I bought it from whose family owned it since 1937. They all reference the previous Bill of Sale except the first one. The original was probably a Certificate of Origin from Ford.

Except that ... the first one (XXX594) lists it as a "USED" car. I would think that a manufacturer assignment would list the vehicle as a "NEW" car?

Either way, this is neat archeological evidence of the progression of ownership. So often when we purchase these old cars these days we really don't know too much about where/how they came from.

I'll post Myrt but here's her story:

1929 FORD
MODEL A ROADSTER

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THIS CAR:

We purchased it in October 2014 from Ruth Ann Morford (nee Crawford), who was 86 years old at the time. She had owned the car for 77 years. Yes, she had the car when she was 9 years old! Ruth Ann’s father owned a farm in Middletown, N.J. and wanted her to learn to drive at the age of 9…this of course was 1937.

Mrs. Morford related how she drove the car all around the farm and in the family’s apple orchard. She went on to tell us how each dent and ding came to be and how she remembered her dad helping her bang out her “accidents”. She drove the car all through high school and when newly married, but ultimately the car fell dormant. The car was always housed inside and in time her own children became interested and resurrected “Myrt,” as she had named it. They too drove the car and enjoyed it. Eventually Myrt became ill with bad brakes, overheating troubles, some electrical problems and various other issues related to old age and she was retired to a garage.

Now that we own Myrt we have fixed the mechanical issues, redid the interior and had the wheels powder coated. As far as the exterior goes we did add some new chrome (Hey what girl doesn’t want jewelry?) but we are thinking there is just too much history that would be removed in order to completely restore the car. We are thinking Myrt is happy just the way she is now.

Prefab garage delivered and put on stone. I think in 2014 it was $7,000. Those pictures are from 2014. I'll have to post some new ones with the red wheels and new chrome.
