Default Please help ID these brackets of my 33 sedan

These 2 brackets were in my "interior bucket" where I had all the parts related to seats. I am about to begin the last part of my restoration, the interior. Car is a 33 Tudor. The brackets measure 6 x 1.5 inches and are a mirror image of each other. I assembled the rear bench seat and both front seats and it appears nothing is missing there. Initially I thought they could be related to the sliding mechanisn of the driver's seat but I don't see any spot where they may fit. I hate to have "extra parts"! Hope you can help. Thank you Barners. Manuel

Come on 33-34 owners! Not even one comment after 142 views? Someone sure has some idea what these brackets are for.

I've checked all of my reference manuals for you and I can't come up with anything to help you. Given the elongation of the holes, I can only speculate there is an adjustment of some kind involved. I'm guessing they have something to do with the front seat backs that swing forward to gain access to the rear area. Are there any holes in your floor that these holes line up with? They look to be corroded. Could these brackets have been covered with upholstery at one time? Do you see any impressions on them from bolt heads, nuts or washers? Could they be used for mounting arm rests?

Maybe jim1932 has it. The brackets you show may be part of the wood frame for the seat. Adding strength to the wood corner for the attachment of the back rest. His photo above shows carriage bolts that have a square under the head they would fit in the square holes in your brackets and oblong holes for attachment of the cloth cover with upholstery tacks.

Judging by the square holes in the plates it looks as though a carriage bolt was used to bolt it either to the floor board or to the seat frame???

As per the second photo in Jim32's post. The center hole appears to have a regular hex head instead of a carriage bolt.

Very helpful comments, thank you all and thanks jim1932 for the photos. This weekend I will check if they fit as resinforcement on the corner of the seat wooden frame, which sounds like a very feasible explanation. Manuel

I checked my restored driver's seat frame and indeed the brackets fit very well in the back part of the wood frame as shown in these photos. The photo actually reveals the marks left by the brackets in the wood before. The inner holes correspond to the bolts that hold them together with the metal support of the seat back increasing the strength of the assembly. The outer holes are there to attach the upholstery. Hope the photos help somebody else in his restoration project. Thanks jim1932 and Terry, OH and all who made comments. Off subject, you can see a basket of grapefruits in the background. Delicious. Got my own tree in the backyard!

You should use Carriage bolts not the hex with washers.
