I love mine. Some swear against them, but if it's set up properly it won't cause any problems. In MY experiences, it created a smoother running, and better sounding engine as well as worry free (unless it's not set up correctly, as previously stated). I carry a spare with me just incase, but in over 20,000 miles I've never had a problem.

Some love them some hate them.

The only guy in our club to have one took it out and went back to stock. The car never did run right on the electronic ign, and since there was nobody around with any experience to help it was removed.

My stock ignition and 6 volt battery have worked great for the past 10 years that I've been driving my 28, so I see no advantage in going to electronic ignition. In fact it would be a big disadvantage if the unit fails and I don't have a spare along.

Advantages are hotter spark, less carbon, better mileage, quicker starts.
Disadvantages are you have to keep your electrical connections clean, if you lose voltage, like the generator isn't charging right, it won't fire. So no dead battery push starts. Also you have to grd any coil spark while testing, or module damage can occur.
As far as replacement parts, smart A ers carry an extra distributor with them, why not another module?whats the difference? Also the coil (different then the stock one) is available at Napa.
PS you don't have to mess with points adjustment anymore either, and mine (Peterson spl) has been going for 25,000 miles.
So,---- what ever floats your boat!
