I always set mine up on the loose side, never any problems. Pistons @ .0035- .004" Mains, .002", Rods, .0015-.002". This is no my street engines.

A lot of times the piston ring end gap is overlooked, causing tight engines. I've been told that the rings are "pre-gapped, right out of the packaging", but they aren't, each ring has to be individually checked for the cylinder it's going into.

No they are not. I remember having to adjust them on the Jeep.
