Are all 29 2 tooth steering columns out the same length?
Thanks Dick |

When ordering parts be sure to get the matching steering shaft length for your tube. Best to match what you have. And maybe better to buy the worm attached - but check for axial concentricity since the interference fit can cause non-axial alignment worm with the shaft. Most vendors are now aware of the issue. And they're all prepared to return/replace for defective assembly provided by them. Joe K Addenda: The 29 version ("Gemmer") is the unusual version in that the worm has a different angle for the bearing and requires a bearing/cups which are now out of production. And - to match the 29 Steering Tube, it has its own length. Check the Service Bulletins Page 481 (Aug 29) and 517 (Dec 29) if this change is applicable to you. The worm issue can be gotten past by incorporating the new worm, bearings (2), lower bearing cup, and upper bearing cup steering tube attachment to your earlier version steering box: the parts all fit and replace what is there. As said, the vendors can give you the 29 length steering shaft with the later version worm. And of course they're more than happy to provide the other parts too. J.
