Default Anchorage, Alaska Earthquake

Hoping all is well with any Ford Barner's in Alaska. Especially two brothers, Jim and Dennis Hackenberger. Barn ID's are "Alaska Jim" and "Flatrod".
Both live in the Anchorage area.

Jim is in Texas, I'm here. The building took it well, all 40 cars are ok but for one. It had some sheet rock fall on it and break the mirrow off and a small dent. It shook things bad. At work we must of had 75 or so cranks fall off the ranks, cabinets fall over, even the vice fall off the bridgeport! wasn't bolted down. All is good with me, But Jim's house and garage we are not sure of yet, some of the roads going north are still out, but going south now is open.

I did not have any damage .I am on the south side of town. As for others , they had a lot of personal items damaged inside their homes. One friends home did sustain severe foundation damage as well as structural. No injuries but they do not have earth quake insurance.

Just checking in, I am In Texas. As Dennis said my y-block powered 30 coupe survived with out a scratch so far., but they are still having large after shock quakes. The cars at my place are still unknown at this point I have had my son in law go check the house, but at the time the power was off and could not see in the shop. later we got some inside the house pictures. a lot of damage just a lot of stuff everywhere all the cabinets in the whole house are open and everything is on the floor. broken lamps, pictures, dishes , etc. all replaceable. the one thing I think I lost , but am not sure of, that I will kind of miss, is the runner up trophy I got from where I was a contestant in the 1968 Plymouth trouble shooting contest in Bell Calif. I got during my senior year in high school. I know it seems frivolous, but I kept that thing all these years, moving all over the country. pretty sure it is broken. can't see it in any of the pictures I have received. the condition of the my 51 Merc is unknown. there is a car cover on it and there is so much stuff on the floor around the car, I told my son in law not to look. I will deal with it when I get home in Jan. a good sign is that there is nothing on top of the car. I have not received any word on the condition of my wife's daily driver, or any sign of structural damage to the house or the garage. Thanks for thinking of us from Alaska. we appreciate it.-------JIm
