Default Isn't me?

Just when I think I have got the modern-day world by the tail something like this comes along. I bought a 49 Ford Sedan in Chicago. I live in Kansas City Missouri area I want to rent a U-Haul trailer to bring it home. If I rent the trailer in Chicago and bring it back to KC it will cost $450. If I rent the trailer here pull it to Chicago and come home the next day it will cost me just a tad over $100. Am I crazy or missing something here? I realize at some point it has to return to Chicago but at $350?😊

It's a no-brainer. Rent it in KC, go to Chicago, and return it the next day.

Yep, return issue. I would guess they have way more trailer leaving the area than coming in.

It is the same way with rental cars. If you rent one in one city, say, L.A. and drive to Phoenix and turn it in there , it cost more than if you drove it back to L.A. and turned it in.

I’ve run into this renting a small moving van. They refused to rent it to me unless I returned it to the original location. I had to rent a bigger truck....... Mark

That is because car and trailer rental businesses are locally owned. Cost money to get their equipment back.

Yep, done the same. Always much cheaper to rent local and pull the trailer both ways.
