Default Electric vs. windup clock for '55 Ford car

Ford made two different optional clocks for '55 cars. One is electric, 6V, stamping on back of case says it was made by Borg in Chicago. The other is a wind-up version, no manufacturer stamping on back of case. The faces look almost identical, except the electric version has a knob in the center to set it and a tiny adjustment screw at top to adjust it to run faster or slower. The windup version has a knob at the 6:00 position that is pulled out to set it and pushed in to wind it. Since the car is going to be 12V when I get it back on the road, using the wind-up clock will make things simpler than using the electric clock that is original to the car (my parents bought the car new). I can't get the wind-up clock to run, somebody may have over-wound it or it just may need a good cleaning and lubrication. Can you tell me of anybody that works on these wind-up clocks who might be able to get the thing running?

The fellow that runs this outfit does excellent restorations of early/mid 60's T-Birds as a hobby and I've heard very good things about his clock repairs too.

Williamsons Instruments Inc can restore your clock (if possible) both functionally and cosmetically. www.williamsons.com
BTW, I believe that the manual wind-up clocks were made by Westclox and some of the electric clocks too, although most of the electric clocks I've seen are Borg.

Dave, good looking '55 and a two-tone combination that is not often seen. What is the third character in your car's serial number? It will be a letter which denotes the assembly plant where the car was built. A denotes Atlanta plant, so if it's an Atlanta-built car, my father leaded the seams on it. He worked at the Atlanta plant from '52-'82 and was working lead from '52-'57 when he moved into paint.

William's did a quartz conversion on to clocks for me. The earliest one was done almost 20 years ago, it still runs great. The other about 15 years ago, same deal
