I have them on my '37 Ford and have only been stopped once by city police. According to my story to the very young police officer they were original to the '37 Ford as well as the absence of turn signals and seat belts.

Blue Dots are for law enforcement vehicles. In CA it is easy to tell if the motorcycle you are coming up on is the law because of the blue lights on the rear of the bike. If a cop has had a real bad day he could decide to arrest you for impersonating and officer if your vehicle has blue dots.

They were 'all the rage' back in the day.

They made the taillights purple when they were lit. I recall a friend, A "rebel without a cause!" type who installed them on his 51 convertible, in Jersey - For a while! Never did hear what happened there!

Do the American Dream. Buy them, install them and flaunt them down by the Police Station, then argue with the cop, throw a punch or two, (only until winded) then succumb and toddle off to the bucket, running off at the mouth how your rights are being violated. Then the Jackpot, sue everyone that "made you put them on" If you need a Calhoun we have John Burris who will probably be in need of a new hairpiece real soon. Sure he would leap at the chance of getting some municipality to buy it for him.

They were an aftermarket accessory in the late forties and fifties. I have them on my 48 F-1 and my 48 Merc. convertible. I think they are cool. Just a big 74 year old kid!

I have them on my 46 Coupe—-been on it for 30 years. I was stopped once about the time I bought it—told the Highway patrolman that they were there when I bought it and I thought they were original. He told me to beat it. No ticket

Blue dots were standard equipment on early-30s Cadillac.

In most states blue tail lights are illegal, but not blue dots on red, at least for vintage cars. These are still available.
