Which fuel fittings?
The connection from the copper fuel line to the newly installed gas tank in my '38 Ford standard has a small drip no matter how much I try to tighten it. I'm thinking the old fitting is no longer good?
I'm guessing it's the 2 piece with nut and ferrule, but want to make sure I order the correct one...Which of these two fittings is correct, and what are the different uses between the two? https://cwmoss.com/products/fuel-lin...-piece-1932-48 https://cwmoss.com/products/fuel-lin...-piece-1928-29 |

Either fitting will leak if over tightened, keep that in mind.

Re: Which fuel fittings?
Fair point, but I'd like to have the fitting in hand before starting the job of draining the tank and and removing the old connection. I guess I can just order them both! :-)

Re: Which fuel fittings?
I prefer the two piece design. I have successfully removed the ferrule from a one piece and used with an ferrule from a one piece. Often there is enough slack in the length of a pipe that it can be shortened the amount needed to use it with a new ferrule.

Don't over tighten. At the point your thinking of, cut the line or get a new one. Makes do difference if one or two piece then....

Re: Which fuel fittings?
Change to STEEL fuel line like original and the problems will go away.
In some places, copper fuel and brake lines are illegal and insurance companies definitely don't like them. |
