Check out modern driveline they have kits and separate parts for any combination including flatheads, I'm using them for my 65 mustang, you can fill out a form of your project and they will give a list of parts and cost. Then you can look it over to see what you will need from them and what you can source your self, gives you an idea what's involved.

Pickups used the bell housing for a rear engine/trans mounting. This can complicate the rear mounting of transmissions into these models. I think there is another thread on this subject on here somewhere.

1953 is a flathead application where the rest are all Y-block applications so there is a distinct difference.

Probably best to give this company a call they have been in the adapter business about eight decades. http://www.wilcap.com/ford.html

I am going to used the pressed steel ford bell ,with the offenhauser adapter this gives me the same depth as the original truck bell, then I can fabricate the rear mounts and weld to the bell . no one makes A set up for the 53 to the 56 , f-100 , I also made an adapter for the original clutch pivot to mount onto the T-5 transmission ,

The S-10 transmission gives better gear ratios, same amount of work to install the S-10 5 speed or the T-170 transmission,

update on the T-5 swap in my 1953 f-100 flathead. finally got it all together , I used an S-10 transmission with A 53 bellhousing from A f-250 larger bolt pattern , had to re drill two new holes for mounting in the transmission face , also had to slightly elongate two holes in the transmission , truck has A 392 rear ,now going 50 mph doing 2300 rpms ,put in OD ,rpms go down to 1600rpms , need to fine tune the clutch linkage , clutch grabs a little high, I also added power steering to the truck from A kit from CPP, every thing looks stock ,but it drives like a mid eighties truck .

Did you use a 'complete' T5 from an S-10, or did you use the tail shaft housing from an S-10 T5 bolted to a better-geared Camaro T5 with the 2.95 1st gear ratio? I ask because you make NO mention of what your ride is like taking-off in 1st gear.....speed-wise.

Most S-10 T5s have a 4.03 1st gear ratio, which when combined with a 3.92 REAR-end ratio gives a resultant 15.8 OVERALL 1st gear ratio, effectively making 1st gear pretty useless for street use....like an extreme "GRANNY" gear.

The only reason guys talk about utilizing an "S-10" T5 realistically means only using the S-10 Main Shaft and S-10 Rear, Tail Shaft HOUSING bolted to the CAR T5 (A simple "bolt-on") so as to move the shifter forward several inches. DD

I used A 1986 ,S-10 #1352-145, this transmission has A 352 first gear ratio , will do around 20-25 in first , There are no kits around for this swap ,the truck bell has the motor mounts cast into it.

V8 Coopman, you are correct , first gear is 3.50, that with A rear end 3.92 , spins tires easy.

Doesn't your 1st GEAR feel like it's wasted? Especially with that 3.92 REAR end, a close-ratio gear set (the 2.95 1st gear found in V8 Camaros) would be the 'nuts'. The gear set out of a NWC '83-'87 Camaro/Firebird with 26-spline input shaft would make that trans so much more enjoyable. That trans has a .63 O/D ratio. Always remember that you can't "mix" WC and NWC T5 parts. DD

I am probably going to install A nine inch rear from A 57/72 f-100 or A mid nineties bronco rear with A 354-1 ratio, these rears are A perfect fit they are 61 1/4 wide and many ratios are available. so far I am pretty happy , the truck has power steering , and wilwood disc front brakes , all else is stock ,just want A good driver,

For the Y block and 215/223 owners John Mummert at ford-yblock.com has options for the F series.
