Default Fan shroud seal ('57 thunderbird)

This has been bugging me for a while. Just put a new water pump in the bird and while installing the fan shroud I wanted to get this seal gap resolved.

I've replaced the seal with one from CASCO, and has never fit right. In the pics below I tried to show how there's a gap. I've loosened the upper shroud and tried to 'flip' the edge up but it doesn't want to stay that way. Am I missing something here? Thought about just 'roughing it' and forcing it up and tightening the thing down. Anyone else had this issue?

Please excuse the dirt & dust. getting ready to clean it up for a show this weekend.

Is it shown in the Trim & Sealer Manual? I've never noticed one in good condition before.

I just went out and looked at my '55 and also the shroud top from my '57.
The shroud from the late '57 doesn't look like it ever had that seal, no holes for staples.
The front edge of the '55 shroud (photo) seems like that seal could fit fine if the lip were facing up.
Any chance it's upside down?
.

Good question. Don’t have a trim & sealer manual, but dad does. I’ll ask him to take a look.

Anything is possible in it being upside down. When I replaced it, the original (or what looked to be original) seal was turned the same way. The leading edge did look different though. Might check with CASCO tomorrow.

FYI, this is a July ‘57 car. Not as late as your yellow one, but interesting that it doesn’t have that seal.

No mention of this particular seal in the trim & sealer manual.

Given the design of the shroud and open design of the lower section, it's probably not going to make a big difference either way. Mainly wanted it to look better. I'll play around with it.
