Keep all the original hardware because some of us will buy them. I look for cans of original hardware at the swap meets, but rarely see any. Unfortunately many good parts get trashed.

Ya I'm keeping all of the original parts and installing grade 8 main bolts and head studs. I will modify the head on the two rear main bolts if needed for a proper fit.

The original bolts were ground to size on the OD. That is what locates the bearing caps. I hope your new ones are also.

May not be that good if someone hammered on a socket to get them loose.

I have an old set of snap on ones for square headed bolts. Always heard of them referred to as double square sockets if you're searching...may help finding some old tools...

The new main bolts are from Bratton's and they measure out the same as original Ford rear bolts. As others have said they are a very nice set with 4 rear bolts (2 pair different length's).
