Hi folks, I’ve perused the barn and hamb for a while now and really enjoy the education you all have to offer. I enjoy the threads and was just recently blessed with an opportunity to buy my dream car. I just created my account here and I look forward to continuing to learn here as I work on my new baby. I love it and have owned it for about a week. Needs a little work but the plan is to fix a few small issues, assemble it, and take the kids out for ice cream. Not sure where they will sit but we’ll figure it out.

Welcome, and congrats on the new car. I myself have only had my Model A a few months and have already found this forum and the members on it to be very welcoming and helpful with the problems I’ve encountered.
You’ve got an awesome looking roadster there, I just put those wire wheels on mine with fresh tires and it rides much better then the original bicycle looking tires.

Welcome to the Barn. If you have a trunk, my advice is to keep it. You can pack things in it away from prying eyes and fingers. Have fun with the car!

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I’m working on replacing the front cross member as the original owner cut it to fit a 2829 radiator. Strange decision so I have cut and drilled into it and I’m working on cleaning the rust off of my new/old X member. I am torn over rivets, bolts, or welding the new one in. I know traditional solutions all say rivets but I’m really not in love with Rivets.

I’m super happy with having a trunk car for that reason! The PO actually put a large fuel cell in the trunk too so I’m also lucky in that I have a dashboard and fuel up the car in the rear.

Thanks and all good points, prior to joining, I did notice the collaboration on this site and look forward to learning, listening, and contributing to the site as I get started.

Great looking Roadster. From the Stanchions, I can see it’s a 30 or 31. I have a 30 Roadster as well. Wish mine looked as nice as yours.

You should take it to the All Ford Show at Orcutt on September 10th, a lot of Model A’s will be there.

I used bolts in both of my rigs. So far so good.

Looks like you have a Thomas 7 to 1 high compression head. I have the same on my speedster.

Correct, how do you like it? I’ve never driven this car, I bought it non operational but the wonderful man I bought it from rebuilt the engine and said it should purrrr. How’s yours? I’m excited to hear and drive it.

Not sure I understand this. The 1928-29 Radiator sits higher than the
1930-31 radiator so you would need to shim up a 30-31 cross member
to install a 28-29 radiator.
