Default 56 door garnish retaining clip

So putting things back together and hit a snag. There are 2 garnish retainers on the door. They go on the inside and I believe hold the inside garnish fram that goes around the window.Hope I explained that right Lol. Anyway these retainer clips are held on the door by what looks like a x shaped thing. Got them off way back when but when I tried reinstalling them the broke. Old age I guess. I cannot find them anywhere or even a part number for them. Could I just pop rivet these to the door if I cannot locate any anywhere? It is the part in the circle on the enclosed pic. Thanks

Try Restoration Specialties in PA for the clips.

If pop rivets work, go with them.

Those fasteners are mostly made of lead and break real easy in the middle if you are not careful.
It's kinda late now, but to remove one, it is best to open the clip just slightly in the middle to reduce the tension. Then turn it 90 degrees then pull out. Leave it partially opened like that until it has been re-installed then squeeze the halves together.
I have removed and re-used many of the same fasteners like this twice. They are also used for windlace retainer strips, but the fasteners are a smaller size.
