Re: Wiring for 12V Gear Reduction Starter
Doug,
I was thinking about this as I was driving home today. My assumption is your car is wired for 12v already and Neg ground as shown in the diagram. If the car is not, it may cause issues. Wishing the best, John

Re: Wiring for 12V Gear Reduction Starter
I made a little mount on the stater to take a push button and that works from the original starter foot switch.

[QUOTE=doug.nichols;2156907]What is the purpose of the jumper wire? [QUOTE]
He's using the jumper in place of the push button because he has a key switch operated solenoid in the main power feed to the starter. Nice simple set up.

Re: Wiring for 12V Gear Reduction Starter
Thanks to all for your help. Attached is the drawing showing how I intend to hook things up. Look for a mushroom cloud on the horizon.

Re: Wiring for 12V Gear Reduction Starter
You should be fine, thats how mine has been hooked up for several years.
The starter is much easier on the ring gear because it engages the ring gear before the motor starts spinning. John

Re: Wiring for 12V Gear Reduction Starter
Got it all hooked up and it works beautifully. Very happy with the kinder/gentler engagement of the starter gear with the ring gear. Thanks to all.
