Gantry crane/HF electric hoist update
I used my Harbor Freight gantry crane & 1 ton electric hoist this weekend for the first time and a 700Lb lift. Everything performed as advertised. My only real complaint OR only real issue is on the electric hoist.......IT is "little jerky" when you start and stop....SO when you are trying to ease something down or up it has a slight bit of jolting.......IT could use a bit smoother start and stop BUT all in all I am thrilled with it and its capabilities!!

Re: Gantry crane/HF electric hoist update
Rock, thanks for the review. Appears the brake on the hoist is not engaging smoothly.
Not sure if they use a mechanical brake, or electric. Based on the price, might be mechanical, thus the jerky motion. There is a cover on the back, brake might be located there.

Re: Gantry crane/HF electric hoist update
I will do some "research". Thanks. As you can see in the above "enlarged" photo petehoovie did, I have a chain hoist which is slower and smoother lift SO things that need to be a little more delicate of motion I learned I will use it!!!!
