Default Question about 32-34 spindles

What is the purpose of the heavy bars attached to the kingpins in the '32-34 spindles in the photo. Thank you.

Perhaps it was a way of making shock mounts

The bars are certainly not stock '32-'34 Ford parts.

Someone also drilled and tap the king pin in order to thread for those bolts

And as such, the MYSTERY piece should stay stationary with the king pin, as the king pin is locked-in with the axle, keeping it from rotating when the spindles 'turn'. With that mystery piece remaining stationary, the brake BACKING PLATE(s) will hit it (them) when making a turn. DD

Well, just the king pins. Those bars could have been used to hang them from somewhere. If otherwise in good shape and reasonable enough I would pick them up. They will new king pins due to what was done to them.

Come to think about it, I wonder if they were used in some type of trailer set up. Those bars could have been used to lock them down straight.
