It appears that this test was conducted with a Model B type relieved shaft, which will produce more volume than a Model A shaft. Is the double-slit port pump casting a Model B item or did it appear late in the Model A production era?

How will a reduced shaft produce more flow.

The Ford Service Bulletins show a series of design changes during the A/B era.:

1. Original pump with reduced shaft and narrower casting passage.
2. Straight shaft with wider casting passage.
3. Model B pump with same wider passage and reduced shaft which was necessitated by the introduction of pressurized oil feeds to the mains.

At each stage the Bulletins clearly warn against installing the wrong shaft in a casting specifically because such error would result in reduced oil flow. I'm no expert in fluid mechanics, but this is Ford's word on the subject.
