Re: offenhauser twin carb inlet
The front carburetor would otherwise interfere with the generator.

Re: offenhauser twin carb inlet
In a 8ba motor this puts the fan and generator offset which looks weird in a hot rod with no hood, and puts offset loads on pulleys. the fan is 1 1/4" off to the left .Is there a way to correct this off set ? A powergen generator is shorter than an original ( think) so clearance may not be an issue.

Re: offenhauser twin carb inlet
I also have an offy dual carb manifold that I planned on using on my 8ba powered 41 ford and I don't like that offset,i also have an edelbrock 4 bbl intake and it mounts the gen in stock location,im leaning on the edelbrock as I might want to use a fan shroud, and the offy would be a problem with its offset...

(not 1 1/4" ) And yes there is a way to correct it. In my case I fabricated a new fan/pully mount. This is the new mount.

Re: offenhauser twin carb inlet
This is a regular twin so perhaps the off set is different.
Did you just cut off the original fan bracket base and re weld it further over? Are these cast or forged? How would the welding heat affect the fan hub? Thanks. |

Re: offenhauser twin carb inlet
I have an Offy 4bl intake for an 8BA and it's not offset.

Re: offenhauser twin carb inlet
The intake manifold was not altered. I just fabricated a new fan/pulley mount out of 3/4" flat stock and a short piece of round stock plus mat. for gussets. This provided a welded platform to drill a hole for the original pulley shaft to be pressed into. This only moves the fan/pulley to where it belongs. The alt. is mounted in its original location.

Re: offenhauser twin carb inlet
Would like to see a pic of it. Sounds to me like it may be an early production model. After looking at many over the years I have never seen one that is not offset.
