Early 1926 Model T standard 30X3 1/2 wheels
Balloon tires became an option in 1925. 30 X 3 1/2 were still standard. My early 1926 coupe has 30 X 3 1/2 wheels & tires. My boyhood dentist bought the Ford new. Baloon tires became standard near mid-1926. My boyhood dentist's brother sold tires and was stuck with a large quantity of 30 X 3 1/2 tires. The brother offered free tires to his brother if he would buy a car with that size. How common are they on early 1926 Model T's? I was asked why I changed wheels on the car after a parade in 1964. I never did convince the "T authority" I hadn't changed them. He indignantly "questioned" my ingegrity. Do any of you have such? I am just curious. I bought the car in 1953 at 10 years old. <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |

Dave, Thanks. There have been times over the past 49 years that I have felt I was fighting an uphill battle over that one! Gary <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |

Re: Early 1926 Model T standard 30X3 1/2 wheels
My March '26 touring had 30X3 1/2 demountable clinchers. The standard wheel for a '26 OPEN car was non-demountable clinchers, although very few were sold that way, most opted for the ballon tites starinting with the '25 models. I belive closed cars were std. with ballon and special order for clincher. Now for the can of worms: Model A could be had with wood wheels!!!!1 Even clincher 30X3 1/2!!!!NOOOOOOOOO, don't bring that up at the next car show. <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |

My early 26 has the same set-up, and when I got it was a 100% original barn fresh: last date on the windshild 1954. <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |
