Default OHV build just about wrapped up.

Just about there on the first OHV build. Not my build, just the first aluminum OHV head.

Tod,

That looks and sounds very nice. Are you able to share details about the build?

Thanks,

Raaf

Model A OHV conversions usually replace the old valves with pushrods, so the cam stays where it is.

Most overheads are rocker arm type, not all.

Some are DOHC

What engine is that with the dual overhead cams? There are two cam lobes per cylinder on each side and 4 ports shown on the near side.

That is a CREE 16 valve DOHC on a Model "B" block.

The sister motor holds several records at Bonneville and El Mirage.

It is not for the faint of heart.

Are they a recent build? Looks like lots of billet machine work there.

Bick,
fairly recent, yes chain housing is from billet
all else castings from '70-ish
Earlier versions known as Bee-Jay from the late Bruce Johnson.
If I remember correctly, the original patterns came in from Australia, maybe McGee?

John

Looks a bit flash to come from Oz in the 70's. There was a Riley repo head sold by Andy Jenkins without rockers at that time and the patterns ended up in the US.

Andy was here in the states a few years ago and we had quite a little chat at Bonneville. We spoke about the Jenkins head design and the technology progression over the years. Very nice chap, a gentleman to be sure.

I did a little research on the Bee-Jay head, the original patterns did come from McGee. In fact, the original ports were laid out as intakes on the right, ex on left. One of the first changes was to reverse this.
