Spun Bearing ???
What is the cause, and what is a proper fix ???
I've recently had an 8BA come to me with a spun rod bearing. All the other bearings look ok. |

Quote:
1-An involved tolerance was out of spec. 2-Abuse. The fix is, mag and measure the crank to see if it can be saved. If ok, grind to next undersize. Get a pair of NEW rods. Don't try to recondition a rod that has had a spun bearing. Re-balance all parts. |

Re: Spun Bearing ???
Also, I believe if the cause is #2..abuse in Pete's explanation above, the crank could be bent.
