clutch problem
Problem 2 with my Model A, When purchased clutch pedal went about 3/4 way down before engaging but seemed to work well. While getting car ready to be safety checked I thought why not adjust the pedal. Removed pin and turned clevis out about 7 or 8 turns, reinstalled pin. Clutch pedal seemed better but clutch will not disengage . Have tried with clevis in several different positions, same result, clutch will not disengage. My thinking is that clutch was worn and when we disconnected it something fell out of place inside ? Again any help will be appreciated.

Re: clutch problem
Can it still work if you go back to the original position?

Re: clutch problem
The broken ones I've seen cracked across the sleeve that goes over the shaft.

Re: clutch problem
If the soluttion is not on any of the above posts next thing is remove the inspection plate and have a look-see whilst pushing the clutch pedal

Re: clutch problem
tried again today, found a position that allowed clutch to operate (not happy with the pedal though, goes down way too far) clutch worked while car was on stands. Put car down on floor, car won' t move. As to post #9 I have taken the inspection plate off. Everything seems to be working. Is there an adjustment in this spot ?

Re: clutch problem
You've never answered the question of how much free play you have.

Re: clutch problem
If the car won't move with the pedal released you have a clutch that will not engage. Check the free play, or answer Bob's question and we can think some more.

Re: clutch problem
Trim that to 1" But it does sound like you have a bad clutch.

Re: clutch problem
If no luck with one inch of free play the problem is more challenging. Your description sounds more like a clutch disk worn too thin; a condition that normally occurs gradually. Another condition which causes no engagement is much less than zero free play which precludes the pressure plate/flywheel from contacting the disk. Interesting caper - tell us how it ends.

Re: clutch problem
Originally the clutch wouldn't disengage, then there was a position where it works, then it won't move the car. So what exactly is happening, without knowing that nobody can help you.
Maybe you'd better hunt up a local Model A Club and have someone familiar with them take a look. Lots of guys about anywhere that are familiar with Model A's.

Re: clutch problem
went online to order a new clutch. They have "pressure plate-10" diameter". It is not a great picture, is this all I need? Thanks for all your help. I have contacted the local model A club (3 times but they have not responded as yet.
