Default Mallory dwell angle?

Was wondering if anyone has some information about the Malory distributors. I currently run one of Bubba's magnificent distributors and I know it's supposed to have a full 30 degrees of advance at about 2500 rpm. Shot it with the timing light and that seems to be acurate. However, I was also checking the dwell angle and advance at idle and that's where my questions reside. I may have done it wrong but I was reading 90 degrees dwell and 10 degrees advance at about 430 rpm. Anyone out there know what the actual dwell angle should be for one of these and or if I'm at the right advance at that idle? Any advice is appreciated!

Some dwell meters you set on 8 cylinder scale then divide by 2 for a four cylinder.

Mine allows me to set it to a four cylinder and it reads 90 there and if you put it on 8 cylinder it reads 180...

The 10 deg. at Idle is just fine.

It should run just fine with 10 deg. at idle and 30 deg. at 2500.

I do not understand the dwell reading at all.

w/90° dwell the points won't even open. (4X90 = 360) haha
What are you using to measure dwell?

Some of the 'new fangled' timing claim to be able to read dwell. I've not used one of these newer things.

We would like to know if this monster uses a single or dual point distributor. Dual point unit offset the points about 7-10º depending on the application. So dwell is set for each set and the total will the addition of the offset.

But, 90º dwell just isn't right.

There are some that will have 60º dwell, but, thats due to the weird design of the cam. They actually come out to about 30º, the ramp angle is crazy.

Bob, that's the one! I have an old school dwell meter but the needle sticks and I don't get a good reading.

I probably had it hooked up wrong...like I said first time doing this so trial and error, I'll try again tomorrow...at least I know that reading is way off, didn't seem right to me!

I'm running a single point Malory. It's one of bubbas so it is a new modern Malory that he makes and that's why I don't have much as for the specs on it...
