side curtains
Hi folks
Just upgrading to a new top and side curtains and was wondering where you might store these when they are not in use. I am thinking under the front seat but it looks a little small, will they lay down there or do you roll them, or is there another idea I have not come up with yet? I have them in the carry bag with the irons, but am at a loss here. Thanks in advance, Marshall |

Re: side curtains
I Put mine in the trunk if u have one, and I put cardboard between each one, so if they get hot the windows won't stick together, I would not roll them, I have never had a problem!!

Re: side curtains
There should be a pan extension toward the rear of the underseat pan, that's where the side curtains are stored.

Re: side curtains
What year is your car? On most years/body styles, the curtains go in the pan under the front seat. Lebaron sells a very nice bag to store them in as well.

Re: side curtains
Thanks for the info, I have a 1930 standard roadster. I am heading for the meet in Washington and heard it rains a bit, so got a new top and side curtains, a nice bag to put them into and no idea how to store them or where to put them when not in use.
I have heard all kinds of good ideas, but when looking at the bag it seems really large. Not sure if it would fit under the front seat, so wanted to see where the darn things were made to travel. I was hoping to use the space under the seat for some electronics later, so I was hoping there was something I didn't think of. |

The catalog picture is not that great but you can see it is made for them. I keep mine there (in a bag) and there is still some room for a few items.

Re: side curtains
I could never see how all the side curtains could fit under the front seat, but I guess they will. Later 29, 30 and 31 phaetons with more side curtain than a roadster also supposidly fit under the front seat. I sure would like to see all the phaeton side curtains go under the front seat. 28 and ealy 29 phaetons have a curtain tray under the rear floorboard that goes under most of the front floorpan.

Re: side curtains
Get a portfolio case from an artist supply store. They are available in several sizes that will accommodate most side curtains "flat." Use a terry cloth towel between them. The portfolio case will have a zipper that goes around three sides. You can get one that is a plastic material that is somewhat waterproof. This will fit in your "curtain tray." That's under the seat on a Roadster or under the tailgate on a Station Wagon.

Re: side curtains
I have a 29 phaeton and store them under the front seat, it is a tight fit. Don't use a bag just. I do place a towel on top to provide some cushion. Been doing this for about 10 years with no issues.
