oil can
I've been looking for the description of the oil can holder for the ve and e28's. I've seen a bent wire version, and a bent sheet metal. I don't seem to find it in the standards....

Re: oil can
Wasn't that a "T" option. Don't believe it was intended for the "A" but could be a dealer option and therefore not in the standards?

Re: oil can
The first few hundred might have had them like the open ended bumpers.

Re: oil can
There was never a part number for an oil can holder. I don't believe Ford ever supplied one, even for the T. I have seen them on REO trucks.

Re: oil can
It was on the T but I made a special bracket to hold one onto the firewall/gas tank bolts just above the steering column on the "A" and it gets attention!

Re: oil can
My Dad made the bracket special for me, it's not a factory made part.

Modeltman posted "Yes, the bracket is just an accessory, made non-Ford, show judging requires the Model T to only have the factory tools. Now that oil can is factory Model T, but it was supplied in a box of tools and a tool roll with each car. Never was mounted to the car. The owner would do what he wanted." on this thread, http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23516

Re: oil can
A very nice bracket with a nicely designed set of spring loaded clips is available in repro from any of the many places that supply repro parts for WWII Jeeps. Tell them to send one for your GPW...that way it's a Ford part!

Re: oil can
Gas light auto parts in Ohio use to sell the oil can brackets and oil cans with Ford script, probably still do. I bough a couple of them in the ninties. I've got an older oil can bracket somewhere in my stuff, may be in the shop. I will check tomorrow. If I find it and it has a number I will post it.

Re: oil can
DON'T DRILL ANY HOLES!!! You can use the gas tank mounting bolts along the fire wall to mount your bracket or get an extra piece of metal to bend around that lip.
