Default Valve Stem Covers

Does anyone make original looking metal valve stem covers that can be used on rubber valve stems? Steve

I have not heard of any. However, I assume you are interested in the full cover as used on the 28/29 stem. If so you will also need the rim nuts. You may be able to screw the rim nut down on the rubber stem and then screw the cover on to the rim nut.

Why not just use the original or repo metal stems? They are not that hard to install and work well. I have been using them for about 50 years on all my As.

As Frank said, go with metal stems. Original type rim nut bushings and dust covers will not work on rubber stems but you can likely install metal stems on your existing tubes by removing the rubber stems. This would require dismounting the tires and tubes.

That’s the first I ever heard of ones that were made for rubber stems.

I've toyed with the idea of getting some '28 valve stem covers and using some epoxy to secure them to the caps on my rubber stems. Haven't gotten around to trying it.

Lucas Tire has offered these metal caps for the rubber stem for the past 20 years or so.

The don't completely cover the TR135 long rubber stems; not deep enough

Are you sure? They fit mine fine. In fact I installed a rubber "O" ring under them to prevent them from scratching my rims.

They are adjustable for depth.
