Ups
I sent my Altenator out to be fixed. It was fixed and shipped back via UPS. Tracking says it was deliver last night @ 9pm at my garage door. But nothing there or at any of my neighbors.
I’ve received 100s of pacKages via UPS and this is first time I’ve had a problem. I called them and they said they would investigate. Anyone been through this? Would like to know what to expect.

Re: Ups
Unfortunately, packages get stolen from residences when left at front door after dark.
Our local police sent out alerts to be extra aware - esp. during this Holiday season. I hope your alternator turns up!

Re: Ups
It's that time of year when the thieves are out following the UPS trucks. UPS drops the package and leave and the thief rolls in and scoops the package before you find it. This happens especially after dark. The thieves operate in the more affluent areas where expensive items are shipped for Christmas.

Re: Ups
Unfortunately, it's not a problem that's going to get resolved here.
Seems like every week there's a video on TV of someone stealing packages from peoples steps and porches. In some cases they are following the delivery trucks to see where the packages are being dropped.

Re: Ups
This time of year, many packages are delivered to the wrong address because of seaonal drivers. Have you checked with neighbors, possible it was delivered to the correct numerical address on the wrong street. Don't ask how I know.

Re: Ups
I don’t know where you are at in NJ, but here in Illinois I live in a town of 65,000 or so. Last year pre Christmas my wife was getting notification that packages were delivered but nothing would be there. Next day, same message. Turns out the regional distribution center was swamped, stuff put on truck, not delivered, and then off loaded at end of day and put back in system repeatedly. We did eventually get all our packages, so if you (hopefully) get the same message today hang tight, it will probably arrive eventually.

Re: Ups
In the case of getting compensated its the shipper that will have to file a claim.

Re: Ups
It should be covered, think the minimum is $100. Shipper could have added additional coverage.

The drivers are NOT seasonal. Only the helpers are. My wife, my brother and my brother in law work for UPS. Last edited by Anton Voycheck; 12-06-2017 at 12:15 PM. |

Re: Ups
Might be the ideal, but that's not what's happening where I live! Different drivers almost every day last three weeks. I have to see them drive by and then stand out in the road as they drive back and forth trying to find the address. These deliveries are as late as 9 and 10 pm.

Most have their own route. Sometimes another driver will split a load on a designated route. My regular UPS guy did not deliver my package to the house the other day. It was some one else, and he had to turn around to get here. Don't mean he is seasonal. UPS drivers just don't hop in the cab. They have to be trained the UPS way. And they are not experts in every neighborhood they service (unless it is their daily route). My brother (and his helper) worked until 10 pm last night. Re: Ups
Ironrod thanks
I just learned my daughter was also expecting a ups package yesterday and it also shows delivered to garage. I would bet money it was dropped off at wrong house.

As to original question regarding re-imbursement , I had to sue ups to recover several hundred $s of parts that they destroyed. Your experience may vary, and I hope it does. Good luck BTW...it was a good feeling to see that such people, in their own vehicles, were employed and that our economy is doing well ! |
